Archipelago: loved it ever since I read my first Earthsea book.
Spaghettify: to stretch an object so that it becomes long and thin like spaghetti. Really! It’s used in astrophysics.
Ephemera: unimportant items designed for a short shelf-life, often more precious if they survive.

“Spaghettify” – when an object enters the influence of a black hole, the **difference** in gravity acting on the closer part of the object and the more distant part is sufficient to start to stretch it.
Scary – especially since of all the fundamental forces we know about gravity is the weakest but about a factor of several K. Those black holes are weird places!
