Ever seen a happy bunny typing?
No?
Well, actually you can’t see me either, but I am said cheerful rabbit, because I finally have my hands on Aerodynamic by Tom Hodge, also known as the Pantene ad with Myleene Klass, which is one of the most gorgeous pieces of music I’ve heard in a long time.
I did [...]

Jool’s New Year Hootenanny has a bit of a diva-fest going on. Martha Reeves, Duffy, Adele, Annie Lennox.
Annie still has it – stunning and emotional performances. She looks fabulous, gorgeous and dignified. I’m much happier to know that Annie, amongst many others would see in the New Year quietly in their own house – in [...]

It’s quite sad when two and a half hours of bliss fly by but when you’re watching craftsmen like these three guys it’s inevitable. The SECC must be a tiny venue in comparison to some the group have played, and I bet the noise had even the Finnieston Crane shuggling and shimmying along.

Taking a simple concept and developing it into a cross-curricular extravaganza is my bread and butter – except [...]

I was watching Queen at Wembley tonight when it suddenly hit me – 1986 was 22 YEARS ago. That’s half a lifetime away. I was lucky enough to be in the audience for four concerts on the ‘86 Queen tour: Newcastle, Wembley, Cologne and Knebworth. You can even see me in occasional footage – or rather, [...]

It took us a while to travel up to the Black Isle. Firstly, we decided to take a detour into Perthshire (which really is stunningly beautiful) to see Butterstone, homebase of Dougie MacLean. Dougie is one our favourite artists, not so much a songwriter as a storyteller in music.
We discovered Dougie for the first time in the [...]

Every now and again you find a little gem that everyone noticed except you. Last night, I discovered that the astronomer/cosmologist Simon Singh had complained about Katie Melua’s song “Nine million bicycles” (or perhaps I should say “byskells”).
Singh was concerned at Katie’s “understanding of the scientific method” and the public perception of scientists making “subjective guesses” [...]
