It’s proving very difficult to find suitable published evidence for the Visible Thinking debate on compulsory PE . I want to provide each class with the same selection of published evidence for pupils to use with the Claim-Support-Question routine. This should provide some “expert” opinions and information, as well as generating further questions.
I’ve hit three main problems:
- useful numeric data is proving impossible to find;
- some strong feelings are showing through via rather abusive language;
- there’s a lack of thinking beyond PE as an aid to fight obesity. There’s nothing about teamwork, learning new skills or even just having fun
I’m aware that I’m demonstrating my own inclinations here. My preference is providing a balanced viewpoint; hopefully using Claim-Support-Question they can figure it out for themselves.
