Mr Winton holds a place dear in my heart for sending a comment to my new infant blog – a message from someone I didn’t actually know!
Anyway, his presentation on wikis was exciting and intriguing and I must apologise for my phone going off: I thought it was on silent alert (see Panic below). Really sorry.
The wikis as used at Perth Academy show the [...]

£4.50 for parking? I’d get the train, except I’ve got to be at the SECC for 9.30. So, I’ve decided to park at the Science Centre, which is marginally quicker to reach (and slightly cheaper), plus I get my choice of bridges on which to walk over the Clyde. Excellent idea (I love bridges).
Except… no wallet. Nowhere [...]

LTS are about to publish a whole pile of Information Literacy help and it looks pretty good. Bit confusing to hear it refered to as “Information and Critical Literacy” but I’m adaptable. Sadly though, although the posters and information looks really helpful, it’s still all very worksheet based, wordy and a bit worthy.

Taking a simple concept and developing it into a cross-curricular extravaganza is my bread and butter – except [...]

SLF time again – YES!
I love this Festival. It comes along at exactly the right time. You’ve just realised that the HUGE pile of work accomplished in the holidays is miniscule in relation to what has stil to be done; the budget needs spent soon; the LRC timetable is becoming existential (or possibly nihilist); and the gravity [...]

I was told by a colleague during the week that the job of Librarian meant supporting learning and teaching, not leading.
Interesting. As the only Librarian in schools, we can often be the only one trained /familiar with certain tasks (and more often the only ones who know what we’re talking about :->). Most notably, we’re the only library [...]

I was helping my son with his homework last night. He had to add up the value of the coins pictured and he was having a bit of trouble. On a whim, I got out some change and let him add the coins instead, and was stunned by the difference. He was instantly able to add the sums in his [...]
